I've got an Intel 82801DB-ICH4 soundcard with a Analog Devices AD198IB with ALSA version 1.0.10rc1, would my sound card be good for DJing?

I suppose the Intel soundcard is integrated in motherboard.
Well, because this devices are not thinked for a music performer, they have not high level SNR and performance (especially latency). Although they are good enough for a bedroom dj, for djing at some party or for *early* and cheap live sessions... Maybe in future you could want some more. Then you'll change... For several reasons djs prefer USB devices: mobile devices with a cool performance as Audigy, Terratec or DJ Console. But sometimes this stuff could be overpriced...
If you have some problems configuring your card, a cool place where to look is the LAU list (I already found an old thread here: http://www.mail-archive.com/alsa-user@lists.sourceforge.net/msg13748.html)

I don't know Analog Devices AD198IB: could you post some more info about it?

I also agree with J_Zar about SNR and performance...

For Linux, I am using a M-Audio Revolution 7.1 which is a great internal PCI soundcard.
However, there is a lots of annoyance with software because soundcard only support 32bits pcm streams (the card use only 24 bits)... Despite the use of stream software conversion, the sound output is great !!!

I never change it for a Creative soundcard which has good DSP (so it's a very good card for windows gaming) but a very bad SNR (lots of noises when no playing...).
