Help needed: Hercules DJ Console is connected but no sound.. - 2006/03/15 10:05

I have been working on getting my Hercules DJ Console (Windows version, first generation) to work in Linux. Ultimately I would like to use it in combination with DJPlay or mixxx or something.

I have been going through the posts on this forum, the links in them, the sourceforge lists, ALSA documentation etc. etc. but I have not been succesful.

What does work:

- The DJ Console is connected (it is recognized at startup)
- The ALSA Mixer can set levels for the sound
- Having installed Jack it can also see the HW1 (I have an onboard card as well) and names it Hercules DJ Console. The connector shows 6 outputs.

What does not work:

- There is no sound coming out of the DJ Console
- When I choose the DJ Console output device in XMMS (configure the ALSA output) it gives an error on the ALSA output plugin, which does not occur when using my onboard card

The setup:
- I use a Gentoo Linux system with a 2.6.15 kernel with ALSA compiled in the kernel

These lines might indicate something, but I cannot find any useful information on these errors:

snd-usb-audio: probe of 1-1:1.0 failed with error -5
snd-usb-audio: probe of 1-1:1.5 failed with error -5

Is there anybody who can help me with this, I would really like to use my DJ Console in Linux.

Use libdjconsole to access the Hercules hardware
