Hi there! Im starting to mix on the computer, and I come to the need of having a multichannel soundcard to do the pre listening, so important for beat matching!
I would like to ask if there is anyone doin that and if you can advice me a nice (external) soundcard with multichannel. It has to be usb, cause Im takin my laptop to the bars where I wanna DJ.
Other question is if you guys know the Hercules DJ console! Its quite a pretty thing, but the truth is that I have know idea if it works on Linux, and in case it does (which I believe, with ALSA drivers) if it is possible to use all its functionalities! Please let me know if you have any information about this soundcard on linux cause Im just dying to buy it )

My advice is Terratec Aureon 5.1 USB.
That's an high qualitative device with cheap price (around 85 EUR).
3 RCA stereo channels isn't enough?

We should also talk about its Linux drivers: fully supported and
as you can see from the LAD/LAU mails, widespread.

The Hercules Dj Console, as I wrote in the preview, is an USB audio
card and as all this kind of devices *SHOULD* work. T
he problem is that Console is not a mass product, so there are few
posts and few news about it on the net.
Therefore there are few people needing support for it.

The price is not affordable for me at the moment so...
I can't give you more help

Hey! thanks a lot for your advice: I already ordered the soundcard you said and it was quite cheap (at least compared to hercules console...).
I ll try to configure it, and keep you (and the forum) updated of how it works, and how it deals with my mixin software

Hi J_Zar,

I have a terratec Aureon 5.1 USB, andit works fine excep that I can only see two output channels. How have yo managed to configure the 6 six output channels?
