4x4 soundcard - 2007/03/12 00:24

I'm looking for an external soundcard with two stereo in's and two stereo out's that will work under Linux without to much hassle.
I've got a laptop, so I need an external one. I'd like two stereo in's for when Mixxx will support timecoded vinyl. It would be nice if the in's can directly take phono, without a preamp.
Does anyone here have any suggestions?

Does anyone know if the Behringer BCD2000 works under Linux?
I'm not sure I want one of those, but I'm just wandering if it would be an option.

I guess the Hercules DJ console will be proposed. But the fact that I can't find any specs mentioning signal-to-noise ratio or things like that makes me a bit suspicious of the audio quality. I'd rather have a good sound card without the controller interface, then a bad sound card with an interface.
BTW: is the MK2 version of the DJ console also Linux compatible?

I would assume the BCD2000 works in Linux. I know the BCF2000 works (I've used it). At the very least, I'd expect the soundcard inside the BCD2000 to work, as all USB soundcard share a standard driver. (The BCF2000 was a MIDI controller. Hopefully the BCD2000 works the same way....)

I'd rather just have the soundcard too though...

I'm using Terratec 5.1 USB external soundcard and it works very well. Quality, price and support are ok.
Every USB audio that uses the standard snd_usb_audio alsa driver works well. DJ console is one of this cards as well. Support for MKII is on the way.

Dunno for BCD2000...

The Terratec only has one stereo line input, being a microphone input, no?
For control vinyl you need two stereo inputs.
Microphone input is to sensitive anyway, no? I can't record line input through the microphone input of my laptop, it get totally distorted, even when I put the volume as low as possible.

No. It has one mic input and one optical S/P-DIF digital input, which can be used as a normal stereo jack input too. They sell the item with a connector which allows mini-jack to digital connection. This is enough for one vinyl control, even if I haven't one, so I can't give useful feedback in this.

If you have distortion or alteration in line-input you should try to remaster the stream. Try this:

i've bonded 2 emu10k1 sound cards to give me that 4x4 i've used multi and route in my asound.conf and it works flawlessly with jack.

that setup i've tried using with digital scratch mixxx,

ill post my sucess with scratchlib
