Linux streaming setup - with mic? - 2007/06/07 02:31

I've been dj'ing in Windows for a few years using Winamp + the Shoutcast DSP and I've been looking to run a similar setup in Linux (Ubuntu). I can run the sc_trans Shoutcast easily enough, but without a GUI to manage my playlist and without being able to use my mic for voiceovers it just doesn't do the trick. I've tried the Internet DJ Console as well, but can't get it to work no matter how much I fight with it.

Do any of you have suggestions for a straight-forward linux streaming setup, with microphone/soundcard input? I don't need to do any mixing. I just need real-time playlist management and voiceovers with it all pushed to a Shoutcast server.

I think you can test the Jack sound server with your favourite app.
Jack can manage all dps input-outputs. So you will need a good software mixer (as JackMix or JackEQ) and a software to organize routes (QJackCTL).
Then a client supporting output to Jack (suppose you can try DJPlay but it is probably pretty difficult to install it, it you can't find a package. Try Mixxx then.).
