Let's unite & make a project: Live Linux Dist. for DJs -

Hi Nexgen.
I think your idea is wonderful, but I should give you some points to think about before starting such a project:
:!: there are already some trials in the past for such a purpouse:
http://ldj.sourceforge.net/. The results are not always as good as we can imagine. Starting a project means following it until the maturity at least... No more... The world is full of half-projects without a roadmap, and this is not good.
:!: there are already some projects, actually in development, related to audio software distribution for music productivity. You can find some nice links at
http://www.linux-sound.org/distro.html. Is there any reason not to contribute to this projects with software packages for our needs (dj software) instead of starting a new distrib?
:!: you need a number of coders/packagers/maintainers to form a team. Alone your result, with high probability, cannot be satisfactory. I suppose a number of 5 team members could be enough to start.
:!: maintaining a project requires time. Maintaining a distribution requires a lot more time and maybe money.
If, after reading this notes, you are of the same idea you started with, then you are really ready to start such a project. At the moment I'm very busy with work, studies and other stuff and I can't be of your team... I could help you spreading your idea and supporting your work with OpenJay.org and contributing occasionally to your project... I could also give you some help building the project-site... But I really can't promise anymore...
